FIRST OFF ~ THESE SUPPOSED SUICIDES WERE MURDERS MADE TO LOOK & SEEM LIKE SUICIDES...GET IT YET resulting in its two principal singers and songwriters committing suicide in 1975 and 1983. INCLUDING THE MURDERS OF PETER HAM & TOM EVENS... BOTH WERE HUNG & IT WAS MADE TO LOOK AS IF THEY HAD HUNG THEMSELVES & COMMITTED SUICIDE BOTTOM REAL DEAL LINE___________ NOW GO AND CONNECT SOME LONG AGO LOST & FORGOTTEN DOTS...
MURDERED (LIKE DOUG HOPKINS WAS YEARS LATER)OVER OF COURSE AS ALWAYS IN THE MUSIC BUSINESS...SR = Songwriting Royalties Evans was now receiving!!!! PETER HAM WAS MURDERED OVER THE SAME ISSUE BACK IN 1973.. NOW IT WAS TOM EVENS TURN TO BE MURDERED OVER THE SAME ROTTEN ROYALTIES DEAL IN 1985... Getting It Yet!!!
During 1982 and 1983, Molland and Evans then operated what turned out to be rival touring bands, both using the name Badfinger, which caused serious conflict in their relationship. At certain stages, Evans teamed with pre-1975 Badfinger members Bob Jackson, Mike Gibbins, guitarist Adam Allen, guitarist Reed Kailing (The Grass Roots), guitarist Donnie Dacus (Chicago), post-1975 Badfinger members Tony Kaye, guitarist Glenn Sherba and drummer Lenny Campanaro. For a few of his Badfinger band gigs, Molland teamed with post-1975 member Joe Tansin.
In 1982, Evans and Jackson signed a management contract with a Milwaukee businessman John Cass, which led to a disastrous tour. Both were later sued (Evans for U.S. $5 million) when they denied any responsibilities of the contract, due to their stance that management obligations had not been performed. Early in 1983, Evans and Jackson, with assistance from new member Al Wodtke, completed four demos in Minneapolis, Minnesota under contractual obligations to former Stevie Wonder manager Don Powell. These demos included Jackson's "I Won't Forget You," a tribute to deceased band member Pete Ham. These were briefly shopped but failed to generate strong interest.
On November 19, 1983, Evans and Molland had an extensive heated argument on the telephone regarding past Badfinger income still in escrow from the Apple era, and the "Without You" songwriting royalties Evans was now receiving, which Molland, former manager Bill Collins and Gibbins all wanted a share in. Following this argument, Evans hanged himself in the garden at his home.
But after Evans and Jackson signed separate ill-advised management contracts with a Milwaukee businessman, the trio of Evans, Gibbins and Jackson found themselves stranded in the U.S. without tour dates, food or money and duress of physical threats. When the duo returned to England, they were sued for damages and claims Evans had signed over past royalties from Apple. (Evans for a ludicrous $5 million dollars).
During the evening of November 18, 1983, Evans had a heated argument with Joey Molland of Badfinger on the telephone, chiefly regarding potential publishing/ASCAP divisions of the "Without You" song whose ASCAP royalties accumulating for airplay which had been funding Evans, and other publishing funds being held by Apple Corps Ltd. pending resolution of disbursement. Early the following morning, the 19th of November, Evans was found dead by suicide, his body hanging in his backyard on a willow tree. Allegedly, he left no note. Family and friends have speculated he was overwhelmed by the combination of his conflicts with Molland, ex-manager Bill Collins and ex-bandmate Mike Gibbins over the pending royalties, plus the U.S. lawsuit he felt threatened his livelihood further. But a major factor of Evans depression, alluded by many friends and family members, was that he was never able to get over his former bandmate's Pete Ham's suicide. Marianne Evans, his wife, was quoted in a documentary stating "Tommy said 'I want to be where Pete is. It's a better place than down here' ...." Thus the sad and final irony of the man who wrote the chorus of "Without You", "I can't live, if living is without you..."
Evans is also survived by a son, Stephen. IF YOU ONLY KNEW THE REAL DEAL TRUTH THAT YOUR FATHER WAS MURDERED & DID NOT COMMIT SUICIDE JUST LIKE 8 YEARS BEFORE WHEN THEY MURDERED HIS CLOSE FRIEND PETER HAM OVER THE VERY SAME ROTTEN ROYALTY DEALS & COPYWRITE & $$$$$ ISSUES!!!
